What is the required format for the photographs to be applied on the visa application form?

  • Not more than 6 months old.
  • 35–40 mm in width.
  • Close-up view of the head and shoulder level, with the proportion of the face at 70–80% of the picture.
  • Sharp focus, clear.
  • High quality without spots or creases.
  • The applicant must be photographed looking directly into the camera
  • Skin color should be rendered naturally.
  • The photograph should have appropriate brightness and good contrast
  • Printed on high-quality paper and at high resolution. Photos taken with a digital camera must be of high-quality color and be printed on photo- quality paper.
  • The background should be neutral in color.
  • The photograph should show the eyes open and clearly visible, with no hair across the eyes.
  • The face should be looking straight into the camera, not looking over one shoulder (portrait style) or leaning; both edges of the face should be clearly seen.
  • The photograph should be taken with a monochromatic, light background.
  • The photograph should be taken with uniform lighting and not show shadows or flash reflections on the face or red eyes.
  • If the applicant wears glasses, the eyes must be clearly seen with no flash reflections on the glasses, no tinted lenses (if possible, avoid heavy frames and wear the lightest possible eyeglasses).
  • The frames may not cover the eyes.
  • Head coverings are not permitted except for religious reasons. However, the facial features from the chin to the forehead and both edges of the face must be seen.
  • The photograph must show the applicant only (no chair backs, toys or other people visible). The applicant must look into the camera with a neutral facial expression and with the mouth closed.
